In a nutshell, here's what I teach about the enneagram --
It is a way to understand ourselves and other people.
It is a way to quickly and deeply understand the inner orientation of a person.
It is a way to discover what people love the most about life and how that love shapes their beliefs, perceptions and actions.
This is an esoteric and spiritual approach to seeing the deeper motivations of people. There are, of course, many versions of this deepest love, and we can see how as we grow and mature, we experience healthier versions of ourselves while having this deep love or orientation to life.
It's as if on this one planet Earth, we have people walking around from nine different internalized planets. Each planet loves something the most about life. Each planet processes experience in certain ways because of that love. Each planet resolves conflict in certain ways because of that love. The more we can understand our own inner planet and the inner planets of our beloveds, we can relate with more peace and understanding.
Deep teachings about the enneagram describe this deep love as being a Divine connectedness in our souls before we were born. This love of a particular orientation to life mysteriously affects us in our daily lives as we orient to what we care about the most. In essence, we are honoring what we love most about the Divine, or what we miss from our unity with the Divine.
I received a great blessing at age 23 when I began learning about the enneagram as a student of the Diamond Heart training in the Ridhwan School.
This way of understanding myself and other people has served me every day since then while living in many different countries and interacting with people in those cultures, while working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, while raising my family and while nurturing my personal relationships.
The enneagram has ancient roots in many different traditions. These include connections to Sufism, early esoteric Christianity, Pythagorean and mystical mathematics, Greek philosophy, esoteric Judaism, and Jesuit mysticism and mathematics.
A handful of extraordinary people are credited with bringing enneagram teachings into modern times. Today's most revered enneagram teachers, many of whom are featured in the videos in this healing room, had the privilege of studying directly with these masters.
In this introductory healing room, I present many different teachers who share their understanding of the enneagram.
I have dedicated a separate healing room to each enneagram type following this introductory room, so you can explore each expression of life more completely.
We all have each of the nine expressions inside of us, but we develop a primary resting place in one of the expressions during childhood. The video below featuring Sandra Maitri explains this process with extraordinary depth and clarity.
Enjoy this exceptional way of understanding reality, and may this teaching bring peace and compassion for yourself and others.
